National Association of Social Workers

The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is the country’s leading association for social workers. About 120,000 people belong to NASW. The NASW supports its members and social workers in general by offering advice, research, current information, advocacy, and other tools.

The National Association of Social Workers (NASW), which was established in 1955,is the biggest membership organisation of professional social workers worldwide. The NASW seeks to advocate solid social policies, set and uphold professional standards, and foster the professional growth and development of its members.

Through its activities and its advocacy, NASW also aims to improve the wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities. A professional social worker satisfies state legal criteria and holds a social work degree. Professional social workers work in a variety of places, such as family service organisations, child welfare departments, community mental health clinics, private practices, educational institutions, medical facilities, employee assistance programs, and public and private organisations. The majority of country’s providers of mental health care are professional social workers.
